Description

Tarsar Marsar

Kashmir, oh Kashmir, land of eternal spring, Where the breeze carries the scent of blooming flowers. A place where the mountains rise majestically, And the rivers flow with crystal clear waters.

The sound of the river is a lullaby, Soothing the soul with its gentle flow. And the sight of the mountains is a prayer, A reminder of the majesty of nature.

Tarsar Marsar are two stunning alpine lakes situated in the heart of the Kashmir valley, surrounded by towering peaks and verdant meadows. Both of these lakes are an integral part of the Tarsar Marsar trek, which is a popular route among trekkers and nature enthusiasts.

Tarsar Lake is situated at an altitude of around 12,000 feet above sea level, and is around 3 km long and 1 km wide. The lake is fed by a number of small streams, and is surrounded by alpine meadows and dense forests of pine and deodar.

The crystal clear waters of the lake reflect the snow-capped peaks that surround it, creating a stunning vista that is a feast for the eyes. The lake is also home to a variety of fish, including the Himalayan trout, which attracts anglers from all over the world.

Marsar Lake, on the other hand, is situated at a slightly higher altitude of around 13,000 feet, and is a smaller lake than Tarsar. It is roughly circular in shape, and is fed by a number of small streams that flow down from the surrounding peaks.

The lake is surrounded by steep cliffs and rocky outcrops, and is a popular spot for camping and picnicking.

Both Tarsar Marsar lakes are considered to be sacred by the local people, and are surrounded by a number of myths and legends. According to local folklore, the lakes were formed by a demon who was slain by a powerful deity, and their waters are said to have healing properties that can cure all manner of ailments.

In the morning, the sun rises over the mountains, Painting the sky with hues of pink and gold. And at night, the stars twinkle in the sky, A symphony of light against the darkness.

The Tarsar Marsar trek is a 6-7 day long trek that takes trekkers through some of the most spectacular landscapes in the region. The trek starts in Aru Valley, and takes trekkers through lush meadows, dense forests, and across several high mountain passes before finally reaching the lakes.

Along the way, trekkers can spot a variety of wildlife, including brown bears, musk deer, and snow leopards, as well as a range of bird species such as the Himalayan monal and the bearded vulture.

The best time to visit Tarsar and Marsar lakes is between June and September, when the weather is mild and the skies are clear. However, the trek can be challenging due to the high altitude and steep terrain, and trekkers are advised to be in good physical condition and to carry all necessary gear and supplies with them.

Tarsar and Marsar lakes are two of the most stunning natural wonders in the Kashmir valley, and are a must-visit for anyone who loves nature and adventure. The lakes are surrounded by some of the most beautiful and diverse landscapes in the region, and offer a rare glimpse into the unspoiled beauty of the Himalayas.

Whether you are an avid trekker or simply a lover of nature, a visit to Tarsar and Marsar lakes is an experience you will never forget.

Kashmir, oh Kashmir, land of infinite beauty, Where the mountains and valleys are a symphony. A place where the heart is free to soar, And the soul is filled with wonder and awe.
